The Almaden Valley Counseling Service envisions a community where everyone has access to affordable mental health counseling. AVCS is a community-based, nonprofit counseling agency committed to meeting the mental health concerns of all ages with an emphasis on youth. AVCS offers a full range of counseling services which supports and promotes personal growth, positive family relationships and emotional well-being.
Chartered in 1980, Almaden Valley Counseling Service has been serving the mental health needs of the Santa Clara County community for 35 years.
Services We Provide
Short and long term counseling for children, adolescents, individual adults, couples and families. Fees are based on a sliding scale and are determined by income.
Counselors on Campus
Counselors conduct outreach and intervention on school campuses, providing regularly scheduled and emergency services to 30 South San Jose schools.
Geriatric Advisory Program
This program is dedicated to assisting older adults and their families in geriatric assessment, care planning, and life coaching.
Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) classes are offered quarterly. Classes to be determined – see “Parenting Classes” for latest information.

Internship Training Program
The Almaden Valley Counseling Service provides internships for masters level clinical counseling programs. Supervision is conducted by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. 20 or more hours per week are required.
